Swimming Beginners
Complete the Red Cross Swim level III-Stroke Readiness or the following:
- Retrieve an object from the bottom in chest-deep water, unsupported and with eyes open.
- Bob submerging head completely 15 times in chest-deep water.
- Bob in deep water (slightly over head) to travel to safe area or side of pool.
- Jump into deep water from side of pool.
- Dive from side of pool in kneeling and compact position.
- Prone glide with push-off for two body lengths.
- Supine glide with push-off for two body lengths.
- Swim front crawl—10 yards.
- Swim back crawl—10 yards.
- Demonstrate elementary backstroke kick—10 yards.
- Reverse direction while swimming on front.
- Reverse direction while swimming on back.
- Discuss safety diving rules.
- Tread water.
- Jump into deep water with life jacket.
- Demonstrate H.E.L.P. position for one minute.
- Demonstrate huddle position for one minute.
- Demonstrate correct technique for opening the airway for rescue breathing.
